(REAL NAME)    Rezension bezieht sich auf: 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know (Taschenbuch) ... is that it might not work. This one does not.

First of all, there is no structure and order in the 97 contributions. You cannot call this book "edited" at all in any traditional sense. Furthermore, many of the contributions are driven by very specific views, they do not distinguish between the different possible roles of an architect (sometimes the architect is regarded as the chief programmer, sometimes as the project manager).

Some of the contributions are also quite trivial. It is particularly frustrating if they mention a simple truth, but do not help you how to achieve it: Examples:

"Build Systems to be Zuhanden" (Heidegger term)
The message is that a system should be intuitive "like a hammer". It is not mentioned at all that this is difficult to achieve for all potential users (training, anyone?), and there is no mention at all how this ambitious goal should be achieved! Great advice for roughly 25 cent...

Same with "Learn a New Language", which recommends to talk to business people in their language about any technical problems. Well, if it's as easy.... but of course it is not, and there is no help in achieving another worthy goal (that can probably never be achieved unless both sides show a certain minimum of trust and cooperation).

Some of the contributions are interesting to read, but there is plenty of "information" and amusement at this level to be found in the Internet directly. If you read you books once and throw them away afterwards, this book would be a candidate...
